One Positive Number I Haven’t Seen Commented On Anywhere

I’ve been looking at AOI and UVV seemingly forever, and still having a tough time with them - but as I was trying different versions of top down approaches another stat jumped out at me.

The spread between white and black unemployment is at the lowest rate ever (nominally) at 2.5%, with data going back to the 70’s.

That’s good to see of course, but the obvious follow up is does this get shot to hell when looking at labor force participation? My rough feeling was that it only modestly higher over the past few years and probably skewed in a way that cancelled the effect above out for the most part.

Right about the first part, but happy I was wrong on the second.

So while disparities continue, this is one place where the news is not all negative. Nice.
